The neighborhood of Green Hills in Nashville is bustling with great shopping, restaurants and home to the world famous Bluebird Café. Nestled in all of this is The Well: a coffee shop unlike any other.
I’m sure you’ve been told to never judge a book by its cover and in this case those words of advice could never be more true. At first glance, The Well looks like an old Arby’s that’s been remodeled (and I’m pretty sure it is).
If you can get past the exterior, once inside, the coffee shop has a nice rustic feeling with reclaimed wood, couches and repurposed furniture. They also have outdoor seating, which of course is where Max got to hang out.
The free wifi, great cup of coffee and general coziness of The Well help to make it one of our favorite places to unwind or have a causal business meeting. But that is not what makes this coffee shop so unique and inspiring.
When you first walk in you may notice a wall labeled “Wishing Well” with notes plastered all over it. Upon further inspection, each note is a request for assistance placed by someone in need or maybe just a prayer for whatever life has thrown their way. You can’t help but smile, when you see some of the notes with a red stamp that says “Completed.”
You see, The Well encourages selfless acts like this because it is actually a non-profit organization, where proceeds go to providing wells and clean water sources to desperate communities around the world. Local small businesses are so important to the fabric of a community and The Well is perfect example of how they can positively impact all of our lives.
I don’t care if it was an old Arby’s, this place is on our list of favorite places in Nashville.
