On this Veterans Day, I thought it would be nice to take my husband, who served in the Marine Corps, to one of the restaurants in Nashville that supports our active duty military and veterans. While it’s not necessarily dog friendly like most of the places we review on Maxing Out Nashville, Bar Louie gets Max’s approval because of their efforts to thank the military community. This upscale bar/grill in the Gulch is offering free meals on Veteran’s Day up to $11, to all those who have served to protect our country.
The bar is very modern and has a nice patio that looks out onto the busy Gulch neighborhood, giving it a SouthBeach kind of feel when seated outside. They have a large selection of draft beers on tap and plenty of flat screen tv’s located throughout the restaurant if you’re looking for a place to catch a game.
We ordered the blackened fish tacos and chicken nachos, both of which were very good. The tacos came out on mini corn tortillas, topped with avocados, onions and served with a side of black beans and rice. Considering that Bar Louie is a more upscale bar and its prime location, you can expect the menu to be slightly pricier than what you might find at your average bar and grill, but not outrageously priced.
Overall, we were very pleased with our choice of food, service and the vibe of the restaurant. We also want to thank Bar Louie for going the extra mile and reaching out to Nashville veterans by showing their appreciation for those who served in uniform. Please remember to tell a veteran in your life thank you today!
