In the movie, “Back to the Future”, today is the day that Marty McFly arrives in the future from his life in 1985.  In honor of “Back to the Future Day,” we thought it would be fun to take a look back at Nashville in 1985 and how it has changed over the years.  There was no “Batman” building that defined the city’s skyline and Lower Broadway was not a place where people went for good times and music.

Below is what Nashville looked like in 1985 when they began construction on the new (old) convention center compared to a screenshot of present-day Nashville on Google Streetview.

Here’s a great video by Channel 4 News (if you can get past the 20 second commercial) that takes a deeper look into what Nashville looked like in the year 1985

Nashville’s future is exciting and hold a lot of promise.  In just the next 20 years, the city is expected to add another million people to it’s population.  With that said, it’s safe to say that Nashville will probably experience much more change than we saw from 1985 to 2015.  What do you think will be the biggest and most important changes to our city in the future?
